What’s New in the AD300Pro II

The AD300Pro II introduces several major enhancements over the original AD300Pro, giving photographers more control, more accuracy, and faster workflow options. Key upgrades include:

    • 10-Stop Power Range – Now adjustable down to 1/512 (previously 1/256).
    • New Colour Screen- Large colour screen is easy to read in bright conditions.
    • RGB Indicator Lights- 2 RGB indicators show what group you're on.
    • 0.1-Stop Precision – Finer power control for exact exposure matching.
    • Freeze Mode – Action-freezing t0.1 durations down to 1/24,390 s.
    • Color-Stable Mode – Improved colour consistency across the entire power range.
    • 12 W Bi-Color Modeling Lamp – Brighter LED with CRI 97/TLCI 98 at 2800–6000K.
    • 16 Color-Coded Groups – Group colours appear directly on screen for quick multi-light management.
    • One-Tap Sync – Instant pairing with the new Godox X3 trigger.
    • Refined Ergonomics & Interface – Improved screen layout, metal dial, and menu structure.

    Choose Your Speedring Mount

The Godox AD300 Pro II comes with a Godox mount which is not very useful because most people have Bowens/Strobepro or other modifiers.  This is quickly solved by selecting either the directly attached adapter or the S2 Bracket.  Be sure to choose one from the dropdown at checkout. You can also add Profoto, Elinchrom, and Broncolor direct adapters.

    Pro Performance, Anywhere

Building on the original AD300Pro, the AD300Pro II adds a wider 10-stop power range (1/512–1/1), more precise 0.1-stop control, a refined body design, and upgraded firmware with Freeze and Color-Stable modes. You get up to 350 full-power pops per charge, 0.01–1.5 s recycle times, and HSS up to 1/8000 s, giving you the flexibility to overpower midday sun or create subtle fill on overcast days.

One-Tap Sync and 16 Color Groups

The AD300Pro II is built around the Godox 2.4 GHz X system with 32 channels, 16 groups, and 99 IDs for interference-free operation. Pair it with the optional X3 trigger for one-tap sync—press sync on both devices and you’re linked without diving into channels and IDs. Each group can be assigned a distinct color on the AD300Pro II’s display, so you can see your group layout at a glance, even across a complex multi-light setup.

    12 W Bi-Color Modeling Lamp

A built-in 12 W bi-color LED (2800–6000K) with 10–100% brightness lets you preview your light, match ambient conditions, or add a bit of practical continuous light for video or BTS content. With CRI 97 and TLCI 98, the modeling lamp provides accurate colour rendition for hybrid photo/video workflows.

    Freeze Mode and Color-Stable Mode

Freeze mode delivers t0.1 flash durations as short as 1/24,390 s, ideal for capturing motion, splashes, and action sports. Color-Stable mode keeps colour temperature consistent across the entire power range, making it easier to match multiple heads and maintain uniform skin tones throughout a shoot.

    Compact, Intuitive Design

Weighing just 1.2 kg (2.6 lb) with the battery and measuring only 7.36 × 3.94 × 3.54", the AD300Pro II fits easily into most camera backpacks. A bright colour screen and smooth metal control dial make on-head control straightforward, while clearly labelled buttons and a clean menu system keep you moving quickly between modes.

Built for the Godox X Ecosystem

The AD300Pro II plays nicely with the full Godox X lineup—AD100Pro II, AD200Pro II, AD400Pro II, AD600Pro II, V-series speedlights, and more. Use XPro II, X2T, X1, or the new X3 trigger (brand-matched) to unlock TTL, HSS, Multi, Freeze, and advanced group control across your entire lighting kit.

    Great Off Camera Flash

Great option for portable off-camera flash. Highly recommended to get more power than the AD200 but not the size of the AD400. Had this configured and working with my Camera in a few minutes.

    Godox AD300 Pro

I decided to buy this unit to add my already existing V1s. Now decided to replace all V1s with AD300 it is the light to go. You can purchase Godox from anywhere but my experience with Strobpro was top level, Canadian, 2 years extended warranty, prices are better than Amazon why bother to buy enywhere else. Also there are real pople they call you to foolow up, I like that very much.

    Excellent light

I used this unit on the first (studio) shoot yesterday. I was reprising a headshot made 25-years-ago for the client. That original was made with an Elinchrom 250 WS mono head for key. This little Godox is half the size and, of course, can be used on location with the battery -- that barely showed any use, even with the modelling light on throughout the session.

One criticism: Don't bother with the included adapter ring and stand mount -- both are flimsy and the mount, in particular, will not support any weight (like my 30" folding beauty dish) without slipping. I bought the S2 round Bowens-mount adapter. That is excellent. I already have the equivalent S1 for flashes (bought with my AD 200, which was used in this case for a hair light, but used the bracket for the X60N TTL/ Lithium Battery speedlight, in a Universal Background Reflector directed at the seamless (@1/128 +.7). This lightweight kit will be my studio headshot and general location kit going forward.

    Dissapointed

I am finding this strobe to be a big disappointment. You cannot use this without some sort of modifier. When used with the supplied cover, the light spread is ridiculous. When used horizontally, the light spread on the ground is ridiculous. I have to point it about 60 degrees from horizontal to avoid it casting a strong light on the ground. I would recommend the ad200 instead. This is a big waste of money.

Just what I was looking for.

Love this light. It gives me one more stop of light than my speed light. Its size is great. Smaller than expected but also heavier. It feels like Its well made. Very portable, havent had any issues with it so far. Thinking on getting another one.

    Best Portable Strobe to Date

This strobe is a game changer! I recently purchased the Godox AD200 pro and I really wish I would have waited a few more months to get a second one of these .This strobe is lightweight, easy to use and incredibly versatile. The results as a single light mounted to a 36 inch octabox came out great. I really appreciate the modeling light as you can set different temperatures and increase/decrease the brightness allowing you to get a preset look before you even fire your shutter. I will be purchasing many more of these to round out my home and travel studio.

    S&S - Small and Smart

It is really compact and powerful enough for many shooting scenarios. And it supports all trendy features from TTL to HSS. Having a modelling light is the big bonus, which lacks in many compact lights. Very good build quality and performance.

Not permanent, but the current cons are that I haven't seen the spare battery sold individually yet, and the number of the light modifiers with its current mount (very small in diameter and makes all more compact) is not enough (I know you can use S2 bracket to use Bowens mount modifiers). I hope we'll see more native-mount modifiers without needing adapters soon.

    Beast of a small strobe

Very impressed with the AD300 Pro! Towards the end of a 3 hr session (over 400 photos) the strobe was recharging a bit slower and I missed a few shots but the battery was still showing over half. Just had to slow a bit at times. Amazing light for the size for sure!

A compact and powerful unit with some compromise

Very nice unit, light and compact with enough power even with medium soft box with grid (around 36"). Old school menu but it's ok, the LCD panel is better than AD200. The only concern is the pilot lamp: too weak but I can see why, it drains the battery very quick. In studio with pilot on and power between 1/16 and 1/32, after 300 flashes the battery was almost done. The AD400 is overall a better unit but... I can fit the AD300 in my backpack like a lens and that's why I bought it. I don't feel safe to connect medium/big soft box to the unit, better to use the really well made bracket S2
Would i recommend the AD300 Pro? Yes
