Customers praised this 43-inch light modifier for delivering "beautiful soft light" while being "light, compact and portable." Photographers highlighted its quick setup, excellent quality for the price, and versatility for cramped spaces. One shopper noted a support rod broke during first opening, requiring repair.
I always but a couple of Brolly Boxes each year to use outdoors. They provide great light and due to the umbrella like opening and centre pole the modifier also protects my light in the case of a tip over/spill. They are also reasonably priced so if one happens to break it is not big deal.
Light, compact, super simple set up.
The staff were great at helping me choose this as a solution to space constraint I was facing with new 8 foot ceiling limitations
I was leaning towards the 36" but given the information I had provided them about my location they encouraged me to go for the 43" and they were absolutely right (shocking - lol)
They pointed out that depth of the 43" vs 36" was a minuscule difference when placed overhead on a boom arm but given my preference for softer light the 43" was the way to go.
The light this throws off has been fantastic and build quality is excellent. The stitching between the umbrella and diffusion material is night/day compared with the cheap **** off amazon that everyone try’s at some point ;-) It’s sewn so tightly that I can’t see the seams until I hold it right up to my face and yet no part of the materials are bunched or wrinkled anywhere on the surface.
I point out the quality because I live in Calgary and was able to visit the store in person for the first time. The high quality you will read in other product reviews on this site applies to $400 and $40 umbrellas equally.
If you are ordering online from them for the first time and you are on the fence about trying them you can rest assured that even the smallest details are done right. Sure the pricing is slightly higher than cheap online stores but that minor difference results in a completely different level of quality.
Pay the few dollars more for the evident quality difference, knowledge & customers service as well as supporting this fantastic small Canadian business whom are providing exceptional value to us.
You will understand my trying to explain the quality at such length the moment you open your first order from them.
I own several StrobePro modifiers, and I have experience with different types and brands of soft boxes. This is easily one of the most straightforward, simple-to-use, and highly portable light modifiers on the market. Its compact and lightweight, and modestly priced. Two thumbs up!
I bought 2 of the 43 brolly boxes and have found them great to use.
Theyre well build and incredibly easy to
mount with either a mono-block or hot shoe flash. Id been thinking about buying a Photek SoftLighter II but Im so pleased I bought these instead. Im going to order the bigger brolly box too and all for the same cost as a SoftLighter!
For what you're paying for, this is quite nice.
Keep in mind that the fabric is not silky/cottony smooth. It's like a rough, crinkly bag.
Gives a nice even light and is very easy to maneuver.
So much faster than setting up a softbox and the light seems pretty evenly distributed even though there is just one layer of diffusion. Build quality seems good. Perfect for using with a speedlight for a quick portrait shoot without a lot of fuss.
So far I am impressed with this product due to its compactness and the quality of light it puts out.
I love this modifier!
I used it as a background illuminator. I was able to achieve a smooth white background with no off-axis lighting affecting my key light.
Looking forward to using it in different ways in the future.
Product arrived in perfect condition and shipped on time. Good quality product, looking forward to using on outdoor portrait shoots. On the same order, purchased the Strobepro handheld super boom, very convenient for assistant to hold the 43 inch brolly box and strobe in multiple angles for dramatic lighting options.
Works well for what I need it to do. Its awesome. My only issue is when I opened it the first time, a support for the rod broke. The good thing is that it was easy enough to fix but I had to use some pliers to get it all together again. Probably wont go back in its case though.
this product was exactly what i needed at this time. I found the product quick and the staff was helpful.
Phenomenal, as usual. Love it. So easy to set up.
Easy to assemble and feel sturdy. I love how compact the storage is! I have Elinchrom lights so this doesn't work with the standard umbrella mount spot but it does work with the light stand bracket or "ghetto boom" I have.
Amazing and simple
The best light modifiers for cramped spaces and low ceilings.
Beautiful soft light.
Lite, compact and portable.
Affordable.
Perfect.
As described in the video, althout I haven't had the opportunité to expériment
with it yet.
I used this for an outdoor family photo shoot, very nice light, easy to place, light to move around and certainly affordable 👍
I'm very pleased with this piece of gear! This is the 2nd one I have purchased as it is a great modifier, easy to use, gives beautiful results and a quick to set up as well as lightening my load. I've used this with Ad600X pros as well as the V1 roundhead flash. Much lighter when using on an overhead boom arm and gives beautiful results in portrait and product lighting setups. Price is a bonus as well! Very versatile and I would highly recommend to people just starting to build their lighting kits.
Only 1 thing I would like to see is a separate secondary "diffusion sock" to add an extra bit of softness to the light - even if that was an "accessory" that one could purchase separately.
I've already used this quite a few times since purchasing about a month ago - very handy item and super helpful when working on location or trying to travel light. Will likely purchase other sizes. Very happy with this item!
Amazin! I recently purchased the 300 godax strobe and 2 umbrellas.
My 43 inch brolly umbrella with strobe is not only light weight but works perfect for my small studio space. I was struggling with low light conditions through the winter. Now I can rely on the strobe with incredibly sharp and true to eye color results. Game changer
Hi I want to invest a brolly to be my Ad200 modifier. What are some of the options you guys have?
For a specific Brolly Box we have the 43" and 36". Both will work with the AD200. You can see all the umbrella options here. Thanks
https://strobepro.com/collections/umbrellas
Can I use this brolly box with a speedlite?
Yes as long as you have a correct bracket. You could use the S2 Bracket for this. https://bit.ly/37nk1KR
Is there a grid that would fit this brolly box? Also, is it okay for continuous lighting? I’m hoping to use it with some 40w LED panels that I think will fit in the hole. Thanks!
It isn't designed for a grid but it is no problem to use with continuous lighting.
Thanks
