Why are batteries so friggin’ expensive?

Why is it that camera companies can charge so much for batteries?  $120 for a Canon LP-E6 or Nikon EN-EL15 battery is absolutely crazy!  Wholesale manufacturing cost on that battery is somewhere between $2-$3 including packaging.  Batteries are the highest profit margin item that camera companies produce.  They can keep the prices outrageously high because unfortunately cameras need batteries and we have the perception that anything that doesn’t have a Canon or Nikon logo on it will explode our camera. It simply isn’t true.

Forget what you’ve heard.

A quality aftermarket battery will not harm your camera.  Granted, don’t buy a $5 battery from EBay from someone with a 70% seller rating. You’re just asking for trouble in that whole deal.  Strobepro batteries use the same or higher MAh rating (battery life) as the original OEM. A Strobepro battery will often outperform the OEM battery.

Deprogramed Chips

Camera manufactures embed a small microchip on their batteries to communicate with the camera body.  This transmits information to the camera including battery life, number of shots and recharge cycles.  It is important to use batteries that have deprogramed chips to be able to communicate with the camera or else none of this information will be available.  Strobepro batteries are deprogrammed so they work the exact same as an OEM battery.

Our Strobepro batteries will work on your OEM charger.  If you need an extra charger we carry those too.

Warranty

There are very few if any manufactures that will warranty a battery.  We’re so confident in our Strobepro batteries that we offer a full 1 year replacement warranty.  If you have any trouble just send or bring it back and we’ll give you a new one.
