Needed something that could be set up quickly in the garage from my shelving unit.

It's great if you can get to it from both sides. Otherwise you have to lower both stands and adjust anything that way. I have very thin, lightweight material for my backdrops such as the fleece ones for chroma key and black, so once it's set up and all drops are hanging, it's easy enough to flip over the backdrops you don't need over the other ones and let it rest on top or hang on the backside after it has been flipped.

What I ordered looks nothing like what is pictures and it doesn't even work with my existing stands. There is nothing it can be secured to as per the image. Definitely returning!

I found that my long paper rolls were warping using the chain system, so I wanted to go back to rigid poles and still be able to hang 2 or 3 different colours. This works beautifully, and is lovely and simple. Very sturdy.

Does this bracket work with standard (e.g. Manfrotto) telescopic crossbars? I'm assuming that the knob lifts off to allow the crossbar to drop down?
Yes that is correct. It is a standard sized spigot so that should fit fine.
