Strobepro Heavy Duty Quick Lock Combo Boom

    124500

    This Boom is a Beast!

The Strobepro Heavy Duty Quick Lock Combo Boom is our strongest boom yet. If you need to boom heavy, boom far, or support larger lights and modifiers with more confidence, this is the boom arm built for the job.

    The Strobepro Difference

All Strobepro equipment comes with our in-house warranty and industry-leading support. We stock parts, we use our products, and we're here to help before and after the sale. This boom ships from Canadian inventory and is supported by our Calgary-based team.

    Fastest Boom in the West

If you have ever struggled to torque the pivot lock on a boom while positioning a heavy payload, the quick-lock system solves that problem. Engage the lever to let the boom pivot freely, make your adjustment, then release the lever to re-engage the lock. Fine adjustments become a lot less tedious, especially when the boom is loaded.

    Steel Construction for Heavy Loads

All-steel construction helps reduce flex and bowing when the boom is extended. The controls are designed to give a secure grip during setup, while the boom is rated for a 22 lb payload when mounted in a junior receiver, in addition to the counterbalance sandbag.

    Combination Mounting Head

The working end of the boom includes both a junior pin receiver and a retractable male baby pin. This gives you more flexibility when mounting lights, modifiers, and grip accessories that use common studio and cinema support standards.

    Counterbalance Sandbag Included

A counterbalance sandbag is included because this boom is intended for heavier and farther-reaching setups. Always balance the load carefully, add appropriate counterweight, and test the setup before working under or around the boom.

    Stand Compatibility and Safe Setup

This boom is designed primarily for large junior stands such as the Strobepro Heavy Duty Cinema Stand. Junior stands with smaller bases, including the Strobepro 4' Low Roller and Strobepro 8' High Roller, can be used, but we advise against extending the boom beyond its first section on those stands.

The stand mount uses a hollow junior pin that can also accept a baby pin, with a baby locking screw already installed. That means the boom can physically mount to baby-pin stands such as the Strobepro 9' HD Studio Light Stand or Strobepro Big C Stand. When mounting on a baby pin, follow normal boom safety practices and do not extend the boom beyond its first section.

If you do not need to support extremely heavy payloads, the Strobepro Heavy Duty Baby Boom is designed specifically for baby stands and may be the better choice for smaller setups.

    Important Baby Pin Note

When mounting this boom to a baby pin, tighten the locking screw until it is snug, but do not over-tighten it. The junior pin standard limits the available thread depth for this design, and applying too much force may strip the female thread.

    Real World Use

Use the Heavy Duty Quick Lock Combo Boom for overhead softboxes, larger modifiers, hair lights, backlights, product lighting, and other setups where a standard boom arm does not provide enough strength or reach. It is best suited to controlled studio and production environments where the boom can be properly counterbalanced and supported.

Strobepro Heavy Duty Quick Lock Combo Boom FAQ

Which stand should I use with this boom?

We recommend using a large junior stand such as the Strobepro Heavy Duty Cinema Stand or an equivalent heavy-duty junior stand. Smaller stands may limit how far the boom can be safely extended.

Can I use it on a baby pin stand?

Yes, the hollow junior pin can mount to a baby pin using the included locking screw. When using a baby pin stand, do not extend the boom beyond its first section and follow normal boom safety practices.

    What is the maximum load?

The boom is rated for a 22 lb payload when mounted in a junior receiver, in addition to the counterbalance sandbag. The safe working setup also depends on the stand, boom extension, load position, and counterweighting.

    Does it include a counterweight?

Yes. A counterbalance sandbag is included. Add and position counterweight carefully before working under or around the boom.

What mounts are on the accessory end?

The accessory end includes a junior pin receiver and a retractable male baby pin, allowing the boom to support accessories that use either of those mounting standards.

Is this the right boom for smaller baby-stand setups?

Not always. If you do not need the extra load capacity or reach, the Strobepro Heavy Duty Baby Boom is designed specifically for baby stands and may be a better fit.

Can I over-tighten the baby pin locking screw?

Yes. Tighten the screw until it is snug, but avoid over-tightening. The design has limited thread depth because of the junior pin standard, and too much force may damage the thread.
