Has potential. But draw backs are many.
Heavier than you’d expect. But will stack nicely if you have more than one. Not recommended to store them upright. This puts undo stress on the scissor supports. It is stable - the feet are of a good size and will support the unit easily when in use. Stands up straight. A good mix of durable (ish) metal supports and plastic enclosure will last but won’t take a lot of abuse in the truck or trunk of you car. The latches are weak that keep the enclosure locked. But are easy to undo for a very quick set up. The screen and scissor support pop up in a second and fold away for an easy strike. The surface that we got was nicked a bit but in tests the marks did not show. Keep in mind that we were blowing out the background so
Imperfections were easy to hide. While in the end it did not meet our needs as we do a fair bit of underclass and pre-K photos. With the required framing the bottom of the screen was showing in our photos.
Over all this unit has great potential. Having been adapted from the AV industry which
allowed for many design improvements before it came to our industry and getting new life as a ‘work from home’ green screen solution the Rapid BackGround would be a good solution for the small to Mid size studio. Super fast set up, lite weight and easy to store. Weak puts in the design and lack of flexibility disqualifies this unit as a total game changer.
Give it shot and I am sure you’ll find a use for it that will cover your investment.
