RGBW Colour and an Extra-Wide CCT Range

Choose a white-light colour temperature from 1800K to 10,000K, then fine-tune the green-magenta balance from -100% to +100% to better match practical fixtures or other lights. HSI mode provides intuitive hue and saturation control, while RGBW mode lets you adjust the red, green, blue, and white channels independently.

Focused Output with the Included Lens Reflector

The included Godox ML-L10 lens reflector concentrates the beam when you need more intensity from this compact fixture. At 5600K and 1 metre, Godox rates the bare light at 781 lux and the light with the reflector at 12,300 lux, making it useful for selective lighting, tabletop work, and adding a controlled highlight.

Cable-Free Power for Mobile Shoots

The built-in lithium battery provides approximately 42 minutes of runtime at full brightness. USB-C charging keeps the kit simple, and the light can be used while connected to a compatible power source for longer sessions. A 60W or higher USB-C PD power source is recommended and sold separately.

Flexible Mounting and Wireless Control

The magnetic back attaches to suitable iron or steel surfaces, while a 1/4-inch threaded socket connects to compatible stands and clamps. Adjust settings onboard or use the Godox Light app over Bluetooth from up to 30 metres away, with NFC quick connection for easier pairing on compatible mobile devices.

Fourteen Built-In Lighting Effects

Fourteen FX modes provide ready-made lighting changes for video scenes and creative backgrounds. Available effects include flash, lightning, cloudy, broken bulb, TV, candle, fire, fireworks, explosion, welding, police car, SOS, RGB cycle, and party.

The ML40R is the smallest full-colour option in this group, but the wider Godox ML compact LED system offers several ways to add more output or build a coordinated lighting kit:

Use Compact Bowens Softboxes with the ML-GB Adapter

Add the Godox ML-GB Bowens Mount Adapter to use compact Bowens-mount light shapers with the ML40R. This makes it easy to pair the light with smaller Strobepro modifiers such as the 20 × 20-inch Rapid Snap Softbox or the 24-inch Rapid Snap Octa Softbox for a broader, softer source.

These compact softboxes are a practical match for the ML40R's small body. Larger Bowens modifiers can place more leverage on the mount and may reduce usable output, so we recommend keeping the setup light and compact.
